Attempted escape to the Famagusta Court

A young man from Vrysoules, who yesterday tried to escape from legal detention at the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni, went to the Ukrainian fugitive to look like him. In this attempt, he even hit a police officer with a punch in the face.

Using similar force, the Police managed to immobilize him and eventually take him to the detention center and from there to the Central Prison.

According to the Police, a 26-year-old man from Vrysoules appeared before the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni yesterday, who was facing charges of assaulting a police officer and causing real bodily harm, escape from legal detention and resistance to legal arrest / detention. / 04/07 in Vrysoules.

The court ordered the accused to remain in custody at Central Prison and set the case for February 20, the date on which he will be sentenced.
He was arrested for drunkenness and assault

A case is still pending against the 26-year-old for causing drunkenness, anxiety, assault and causing malicious damage, which was committed on 20.12.2015 in Vrysoules and will be taken into account during the imposition of the sentence.

Following the Court's ruling, when the Judge left the courtroom, the police officer performing security duties for the Court undertook to transfer the defendant to the Court's detention center.

However, during his transfer, the 26-year-old pushed the police officer and tried to escape. When the police officer tried to stop him, the 26-year-old attacked him and punched him in the face.

The policeman was not injured in the attack, however, the 26-year-old faces new charges for assault against a police officer, resistance to legal arrest / detention, attempted escape, contempt of court and concern.

The case is being investigated by the Paralimni Police Station.
