On Thursday, November 10, 2011, the three lanes of the Nicosia-Limassol highway are opened to traffic from both directions, between the junction to Agia Varvara and the Latsia Air Bridge φυ According to a Police announcement, the driving on the highway, has three lanes subject to Driving Rules.Motor vehicles move in the left lane. It is permitted to use the middle or right lane for normal driving or overtaking, when for any reason the left lane is occupied and for as much time and distance it takes to return to the left lane or to give way to a vehicle entering the motorway.
All necessary warning signs must be given before switching to a right lane and all necessary measures must be taken for a safe lane change.
Vehicles are not allowed to overtake from the left, except in the case of congestion where the traffic in the middle or right lane is moving at a slower speed than the traffic in the left lane, so vehicles in the left lane can overtake from the left while continuing their course.
The use of the right lane is prohibited from vehicles towing trailers, heavy-duty motor vehicles with a gross weight of more than 7,5 tons and buses with a gross weight of more than 7,5 tons.
