A mine was found on Konnos beach in Protaras!

A suspicious object was found yesterday just before noon on Konnos beach in Paralimni and firefighters of the Police Headquarters who were called to the area, managed to destroy it with a controlled explosion.

According to the Police, around 11:50 yesterday morning, information was received at the Ayia Napa Police Station that there was a suspicious object in the coastal area of ​​Konnos in Paralimni.

Members of the Police, pyrotechnicians of the Headquarters and a boat of the Port Police went to the scene. Police evacuated the beach and hotels in the area.

Around 16:40 in the afternoon, the pyrotechnicians of the Headquarters carried out a controlled explosion of the object.

After the explosion, it was found that it was a model of a sea mine, made in the USA and of no origin, which did not carry an explosive charge.

The Agia Napa Police Station is investigating the case.
