The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works (Department of Road Transport) announces the following, in relation to the renewal of vehicle registration licenses for 2017:
The marketing licenses will be renewed from Monday 9/1/2017:
• online at http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy,
• to Cooperative Credit Institutions,
• in commercial banks,
• at the Citizen Service Centers,
• at the District Offices of the Department of Postal Services,
• at the District Offices of the Road Transport Department.
The last date for the renewal of marketing authorizations is Saturday 11/3/2017.
Marketing authorizations can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months.
It is emphasized that, based on the current legislation, the marketing licenses will be renewed until Saturday 11/3/2017 free of charge.
Pursuant to the same legislation, for renewals of marketing authorizations that will take place after Saturday 11/3/2017, the sum of the amount of 10 euros and an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the marketing authorization will be imposed as a charge. marketing authorization corresponding to the amount due for the current year.
The inspection of the vehicles will start on Sunday 12/3/2017 and from this date the Police and the Road Transport Department will report those who drive vehicles without a valid registration permit.
To renew the marketing authorization there must be:
• Certificate of suitability in force,
• Security.
TOM advises everyone to take care of the renewal of the registration of their vehicle in time and not to wait for the last days, in order to avoid a possible overload of the system that can cause inconvenience.
It is reminded and emphasized that those who had renewed the registration of their vehicle in 2016 but do not intend to renew it for 2017 should submit to the Road Transport Department an application for immobilization of the vehicle, by completing the form TOM 12. Otherwise , the obligation to pay the amount corresponding to the registration fee continues to exist as a civil debt owed to the Republic.
In case of destruction of the vehicle, the owners must submit to the TOM an application for cancellation of registration of the vehicle (form TOM 98) accompanied by the "Certificate of Destruction" issued by licensed vehicle waste treatment facilities, to be exempted from the obligation to pay date of destruction of the vehicle.
Traffic licenses can be renewed at the offices of TOM, KEP, at the District offices of the Department of Postal Services and online throughout the year.
It is reminded and emphasized that notifications will not be sent to the registered owners, for the renewal of the marketing licenses.
