In two Municipalities, Famagusta and Lefkonikos, no elections will be held for the election of Mayor since the only candidate in the Municipality of Famagusta is Alexis Galanos and in the Municipality of Lefkonikos Michalis Pilikos.
The Election Commissioner of the Famagusta constituency, George Antoniadis, is expected, as long as there is no objection, to proceed with the appointment of Mr. Galanos and Mr. Pelikos as Mayors of Famagusta and Lefkonikos respectively.
However, in both Municipalities elections will be held normally for the positions of Municipal Councilors. In the other Municipalities of the Province, elections will be held for the position of Mayor.
The only Municipality whose position of Mayor is claimed by three candidates is that of Sotira. They are Adamos Kaikkis, Georgios Takkas and Adamos Germanos.
Candidates in Paralimni are Andreas Evangelou and Theodoros Pyrilli, in Ayia Napa Antonakis Tsokkos and Kyriakos X ”Liasi, in Deryneia Andros Karagiannis and Georgios Koullapis, in Lysis Andreas Ttofos and Samvas Sivas and Symeon P.
