In a memorial speech at the memorial service of the former Director of the Thera Fund Savva Savva, Mr. Aletraris referred to the love of the deceased for the wildlife and his path that led him to the position of Director of the Thera Fund.
As Mr. Aletraris said, "faithful to values and principles and an unwavering defender of law and order, (Savvas) did not hesitate in the performance of his duties to go against illegal interests and sick mentalities".
"The defenders of such sick mentalities and illegitimate interests did not hesitate to cut the thread of his life in the most cowardly and criminal way on March 23, 1999. They believed that with this heinous act they would remove the obstacle from their illegal plans," he said. The Minister of Agriculture added: "But they were wrong. "Savvas's unjust death armed his colleagues with greater stubbornness and gave them the measure of comparison in the offer to the Service".
"We all have a duty and obligation to the late Savvas to continue our efforts to further upgrade the management of hunting and wildlife in our area," he continued.
In conclusion, Mr. Aletraris the State which Savvas Savva served faithfully and for the sake of which he gave his own life will be remembered forever.
