The troika's negotiations with the government begin today in Nicosia, with the aim of reaching an agreement for a loan from the European Support Mechanism.

The amount that Cyprus needs to borrow from the Mechanism remains unknown.

According to information, the 35-member troika will be divided into two groups.

The first will be established at the Ministry of Finance, where it will have contacts on issues related to the consolidation of public finances.

The second will be established at the Central Bank, where it will have contacts on issues related to the financial sector.

Meetings will be held tomorrow as well.

On Sunday, the troika will evaluate the discussions.

The Ministry of Finance points out that the promotion of policy discussions, aimed at achieving convergence, is the goal of the meetings, which begins today the multi-member delegation of the troika in Cyprus.

A statement from the ministry said the meetings would take place at a technocratic and political level.

The aim, he added, is to promote policy discussions, including structural issues, the macroeconomic framework, and issues related to the financial system.
