The delivery of the first phase of the restoration works of the Monastery of Apostolos Andreas in Karpasia will finally take place on November 7.
As the Greek Cypriot member of the Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage, Takis Hatzidimitriou, told KYPE, the Church requested the postponement, explaining that these are "formal things, due to common problems" that arise in projects.
What is planned, he said, is the delivery of the project to the Technical Committee, speeches before the media and then the media will be given the opportunity to see the project up close, maintenance and renovation and to learn details.
There will be no official presence at the reception, mainly to give more importance to the project. On November 30, the public will have the opportunity to go to church at the Monastery on the occasion of the feast of the Apostle Andreas, he noted. The projects of the first phase have been completed and small details remain.
The restoration of the Monastery is carried out in collaboration with UNDP-PFF (Participation for Future) and with funding from the Church of Cyprus and EVKAF. The first phase of the restoration of the Monastery began in the fall of 2014. The works were awarded by the United Nations to a consortium, which consists of the Greek Cypriot company "FIXICO CONSTRUCTIONS" and the Turkish Cypriot "YAKUP'S COMPANY, TEL-ZION LTD" 15th century chapel will be repaired in the second phase of the restoration of the Monastery.
