37-year-old from Sotira dead in a car accident in Ayia Napa (video)

A fatal accident with the victim Evdokia Panagiotou, 37 years old from Sotira, mother of twin boys aged 2 years, occurred after one o'clock in the afternoon on the Larnaca - Ayia Napa highway.

The accident seriously injured the husband of 37-year-old Andreas Panagiotou, 42, from Paralimni, while the couple's twin boys, who were in the car, sitting in the special child seats and fastened with the seat belt, were slightly injured.

According to Lt. Gen. Giannos Kapnoullas, Deputy Spokesman of the Famagusta Police Department, Ayia Napa, hit the left on the iron road divider ".

The car then "moved left to the side of the road where there is a concrete wall, collided with it and began to overturn inside the highway. As a result of the accident, the co-driver Evdokia Panagiotou was thrown from the car and crushed. Eventually the car came to a standstill in the middle of the highway ".

According to Mr. Kapnoullas, "inside the car were the twin boys of the couple, 2 years old, who, despite the severity of the collision, were slightly injured after sitting in the back of the vehicle in special child seats properly fastened. "My husband was seriously injured in the accident."

Men from ADE Famagusta went to the scene, who blocked the scene until the ambulance arrived, which transported the injured to the General Hospital of Famagusta in Paralimni.

The doctors on duty at the General Hospital "confirmed the death of 37-year-old Evdokia Panagiotou. Due to the serious injury of Andreas Panagiotou, the doctors are talking about amputation of part of his leg. "One of the boys has a broken arm, while his twin brother has been slightly injured." The father and the two boys are being held for treatment at the General Hospital of Famagusta.

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Kapnoulas said that "the cause of the accident is obviously excessive speed". He also said that the accidents ended in death because the 37-year-old woman did not wear a seat belt, while so far the Police do not know why she was not wearing her seat belt.

The conditions of the new fatal car accident are being examined by the Famagusta TAE.
