BMW 1 Series: Renewed look and new engines

With extensive aesthetic changes, upgraded interior, but -mainly- with new 3-cylinder petrol and diesel sets, the radically renewed BMW 1 Series continues its commercial "career".

It is time to renew the BMW 1 Series, which now follows the latest design logic of the Bavarian brand models. The entire front of the "small" BMW was changed, bringing a new grille, a different apron and new lights with LED daytime running lights. At an additional cost, fully LED lights, adjustable headlights with High Beam Assistant function and LED fog lamps with twisting technology are available.

In profile, the car now looks wider thanks to the new horizontal ribs and accentuated wheel arches. In addition, the rear section is significantly differentiated, bearing two-section lights, which are also LED technology.

Going inside the renewed Series 1, we notice new options in the wallpapers, 6,5 inch central screen, but also the Controller unit located in the center console. A larger Controller unit and an 8,8-inch screen are available as an option. Still, the buttons and controls now have a chrome border, while those of the air conditioning and sound system now have details in a glossy black shade.

The technical changes, however, are even more important, with the new range of the 1 Series now incorporating 3-cylinder sets and being shaped as follows:
• 116i: 3-cylinder 1,5 lt. petrol with 109 HP & 180 Nm
• 118i: 4-cylinder 1,6 lt. petrol with 136 HP & 220 Nm
• 120i: 4-cylinder 1,6 lt. petrol with 177 HP & 250 Nm
• 125i: 4-cylinder 2,0 lt. petrol with 218 HP & 310 Nm
• 116d & 116d Efficient Dynamics Edition: 3 liter 1,5 liter diesel cylinder with 116 HP & 270 Nm
• 118d & 118d xDrive: 4-cylinder 2,0 lt. oil with 150 HP & 320 Nm
• 120d & 120d xDrive: 4-cylinder 2,0 lt. oil with 190 HP & 400 Nm
• 125d: 4-liter 2,0-cylinder. diesel with 224 HP & 450 Nm

As for the top M135i and M135i xDrive, they received a 7-horsepower increase, with the 6-cylinder 3-liter engine now delivering 326 HP and 450 Nm. The rear-wheel drive version does the 0-100 km / h at 5,1 dl. with the standard 6-speed manual transmission, while when equipped with the 8-speed Steptronic, it needs 4,9 dl. The four-wheel drive xDrive, again, with the standard Steptronic automatic transmission is faster, as it completes the process in 4,7 dl. Finally, all versions have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km / h.
