The relic of the late Archbishop of Albania Anastasios has been on public display in the Cathedral of Tirana since Tuesday afternoon.
Young and old, men and women with tears in their eyes bow before Archbishop Anastasios while priests read passages from the Gospels.
The popular pilgrimage will continue until Thursday morning, when at 12:00 (Greece time) the funeral service will be sung and then the burial will take place.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the reception of Archbishop Anastasios' tabernacle in Gjirokastra was moving. With tears in their eyes, both young and old, and especially the students of the Orthodox Church Schools in Gjirokastra, works entirely by Anastasios, gathered at the entrance of the Cathedral of the Resurrection.
They followed the coffin, shouting "Saint" and "Worthy" and showering it with laurels, to the interior of the church, where a trisagion was chanted in his memory by Metropolitan Demetrios of Gjirokastra.
Similar images preceded Dervitsani, where the residents of the village descended on the Kakavia-Argyrokastro national road, stopped the motorcade with the coffin and sang with joy and sadness "Christ is Risen".
