Kidnapping of an infant in Aegaleo: These are the arrested – What the mother says

The investigations into the abduction of an 8-month-old baby in Aegaleo are in full progress, with the mother testifying to the investigator handling the case after the arrest of the two men with whom the child was found.

Speaking to the STAR, the infant's mother claimed that one of the arrested men "betrayed our friendship". Describing her version of what happened she said she “came home, we sat down, we played with the little guy for a bit, because I trusted him so much I asked him as a favor to hold him for two minutes so I could go in and have a quick shower. He said 'okay' and after two minutes he knocked on my door and said 'I'll go downstairs for a cigarette'. I told him 'okay'. [...] I don't know why they took the baby without my permission and if I see him in front of me again I would only want to know why. He was supposed to love the child, adore him and give anything for him."

The mother reveals the "trap" set for her to grab her baby by her 33-year-old boyfriend, along with a 30-year-old, whom you see in the photos below.

"I have been a victim of rape"

"I've been raped by someone very close to me, I can't name who." The mother complains that at the age of 15 she was raped and until last year she was severely beaten by her ex-partner and father of the infant, whom two men grabbed from her apartment in Botaniko.

"It had reached a point then that I was close to losing the baby. He hit me twice during the whole pregnancy and especially in the last month, two weeks before I gave birth, I almost lost the child from the wood" claims the young mother.

According to STAR, the 31-year-old testified for more than an hour about the relationship she had with one of the two arrested, stating that she had known the 33-year-old since 2019, when she left Volos and settled for the first time in Athens.

Both the 33-year-old and the 30-year-old who have been arrested for the case of the abduction of the infant in Egaleo are expected to be brought before the investigator today.

"You don't put two strangers in one house"

For his part, the ex-husband of the 31-year-old said about the case: "I personally don't think she is capable of doing something like this. Now what has become of them after that, I personally cannot know. When I heard it on the news, I fell from the clouds. I say, “Okay, I didn't expect that. It may be as he says. He may have gone to take a bath, but okay the bad thing he did is you don't put two strangers, even if you know them, two men alone, in a house, just you and two men.'
