Christos Stylianidis is the new Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection of Greece, as officially announced by the Greek government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou.
Mr. Stylianidis takes over the leadership of the newly established Ministry, while the former Chief of the General Staff of the Hellenic Air Force, Evangelos Tournas, is appointed Deputy Minister.
Christos Stylianidis is expected to be sworn in at the end of the week, while the honorary return of Greek citizenship will precede it.

"I accepted the proposal with full awareness of the challenges and expectations", notes Christos Stylianidis in his first statement after taking over the Ministry of Climate Change and Civil Protection of Greece.
"I thank the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the honorable proposal to take over as Minister in the newly established Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection. I accepted it with full awareness of the challenges and expectations. The consequences of climate change have overtaken us and we must accelerate major change without delay. "Prevention and preparedness against natural disasters is the most effective weapon we have", notes Mr. Stylianidis
