Around 90 migrants who were on board a fishing vessel in the sea area 20 nautical miles west of Akrotiri Tainaros were picked up by a floating tanker, with the coordination of the unified search and rescue operations center of the port navy.
The rescued are taken to the port of Kalamata.
Yesterday morning, on the beach of Agios Nikolaos in the prefecture of Symi, a total of 82 other migrants - 42 men, 15 women, 13 boys and 12 girls - were found, all in good health, who stated that they started the day before Monday from the Turkish coast in two motorized boats boats and disembarked at the beach of Agios Nikolaos.
According to their statement, they paid a sum of one thousand euros each for their transportation to Greece.
The boats were destroyed.
A preliminary investigation into the case is being carried out by the Symi Port Authority, according to an announcement by the port authority.
