"They intended to do very serious damage and they could have killed me too," testified Alki's second friend who was with him on the fateful night and managed to escape despite the fierce blows he received.

D.K. described to the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki what happened on the fateful night. "I was writing an exam that day, I finished at around 18:00. Then I went to the park in Charilaou and met up with the kids, we had a coffee date. We sat in the park of Mars, and then went to the link. I personally used to go there to watch matches, but not that often." At about 23:00 pm we returned to the park and sat on the steps of the apartment building (s.b. at the scene of the murder). After about 40 minutes, these twelve came and asked us "what team are you?".

I thought they all came from Plastira Street, I didn't realize they were from both sides. I saw one with the scythe coming at me, I had no one in front of me, Alkis and Angelos were at a higher point than me, and the rest of my friends opposite me. I turned my body, thinking he was going to hit me with the scythe, I preferred to "eat" him from the back, not the front. It all happened in a split second. However, in the tension and adrenaline, at the time I didn't realize I was hit with it, I thought it was wood. I took five steps and then I realized, almost all my pants were red with blood."

"I heard voices, I heard Elki saying "don't hit me anymore, help""

Despite the brutal attack, Alki's friend managed to escape, while the accused turned only to Angelos and Alki, who were the only ones left at the scene. "I went out again to Papanastasiou Street, jumped from the bars of the adjacent building, only when I was leaving, I saw people above Aggelos and Alkis. I heard voices, I heard Elki saying "don't hit me anymore, help".

D.K. together with two more people managed to escape from the savage attack they received, and I went back to Plastira Street, somehow circled the square. After we were attacked, I left straight away. I met Nikos on Papanastasiou Street, and I told him to help me, because I was in a lot of pain at that moment, I had to do something. I found a dressing in a bin and bandaged my wound. I saw Angelos in the hospital, then I never saw Alkis again. In the ambulance I learned that Alkis died. I got stabbed in the leg. Alkis was beaten everywhere," Alkis' friend testified.
