The wife of the self-confessed perpetrator of the murder of the 11-year-old girl in Ilia, spoke to ANT1 and the show "Good Morning Greece".
Regarding the fire that broke out yesterday in a mobile home in the area, she said that, "yes, it was the house where the children lived", adding that luckily none of her children were inside at the time of the fire, not even herself. "My mother called me and told me. It was about an hour after the funeral, but I don't know what and how... Two people had gone there and set the fire and the whole front part was destroyed."
In response to a related question, she said that she has nowhere else to stay with her children, she was simply missing because she was sitting somewhere else "until this anger passes".
She explained that she no longer wants to have anything to do with her husband, stating, “what man would want to have a relationship with him? Many blame me for this and they may be right that I did not understand it. Yes, I knew it (obviously because of the rape charge that weighed on him), but everyone believed, the whole village believed that he was innocent. I had taken his lawyer and he told me everything was fine. He will be acquitted at the Court of Appeal. And there I was convinced. No child deserves what Vasiliki suffered. Iulia and I are sisters, childhood friends. I considered her my sister and I always will and I would very much like to be with her right now with what she is going through."
"I don't want to see him and I hope he gets out of there dead. For me it doesn't exist. Just saying your husband pisses me off. I have already told the big ones, that he no longer exists for them, he is dead because he did this to our Vasso", he then added.
Fears of a vendetta in Pyrgos after the murder of the 11-year-old
ELAS has been put on alert due to the wave of anger that has spread in Pyrgos for the murderer of 11-year-old Vasiliki.
Police officers are on the move as the fear of a feud breaking out with unpredictable results is visible.
What happened yesterday Wednesday during the funeral of the 11-year-old girl, when, as reported by local media, strangers set fire to the apartment where the perpetrator lived with his family as an act of revenge.
At the time of the arson, no member of the 37-year-old's family was in the area as all his relatives have reportedly already left the village, fearing reprisals.
What concerns the authorities now is whether the situation escalates further and reaches dangerous levels.
Both relatives and friends of Vasiliki's family are still unable to realize the tragedy that knocked on their door. Their anger is overflowing, as was seen on Tuesday (11/6) when they tried to lynch the 37-year-old murderer, when he was arriving in a patrol car at the courts in order to apologize.
For this reason, in fact, the prosecutor had to go to the Police Directorate, in order to press charges against him.
