Greece: Cheater promised complete cure for coronavirus - Asked for 3.000 euros

The 47-year-old claimed to be an anesthesiologist and promised a complete cure for the coronavirus.

Police officers of the Property Rights Protection Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, following an investigation carried out in the context of an urgent preliminary examination by the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki, filed a case against a 47-year-old native for influence trading - intermediaries.

In particular, according to the police investigation, the 47-year-old, in November of this year, came into a telephone conversation with a couple, falsely claiming to be an anesthesiologist and claiming on the one hand that he has specialized medication-treatment for complete cure from Covid-19 and on the other hand that he has acquaintances in city hospitals for the provision of a bed in an intensive care unit (ICU), he asked for and received 3000 euros. The money was her fee for the cost of treatment for both the father of the man and the father of the woman who was hospitalized in the city.

The formed case file will be submitted to the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki.
