The release of 90 people (52 men, 11 women and 27 children) from the islet of Prasonisi, north of Antikythera, was completed after the sinking of a sailing boat with migrants, on which an unknown number of passengers were on board. 7 people (five women and 2 men) lost their lives from the sinking of the sailboat, whose bodies were collected from the sea area by a naval vessel of the port.

The rescuers boarded safely on an offshore ship of the port, while in the sea area the investigations to locate any missing continue, with the assistance of a unit of the Submarine Missions of the Coast Guard.

According to the first information, the migrants called for help yesterday through the European dialing number 112, stating that about 100 people on board are facing a problem.

The sailboat carrying the migrants allegedly left the coast of Turkey for Italy.

So far it is not known where they will be transferred to temporarily accommodate the rescued.
