A chaplain in Mytilene performed the Divine Liturgy in a church of his parish, while he also communed with the faithful having been attacked by coronavirus.

According to ERT, the incident happened on October 26 and it is now being investigated whether the priest knew that he was ill, since two to three days later many cases appeared in his parish.

He is also said to have been assisted in the performance of the Divine Liturgy by his close relatives, who have also fallen ill.

The circular of the Metropolitan of Mytilene for compulsory vaccination

The metropolitan of Mytilene, Eressos and Plomari, Iakovos, takes strict measures against priests who refuse to be vaccinated against coronavirus and with The letter clarifies that those who refuse will go on holiday without pay.

Mr. Iakovos made this move after the large increase in cases in Lesvos, mainly in areas where there are unvaccinated priests, some of whom allow and urge the faithful to enter the temples without masks.
