Greece / Minimum wage: At 663 euros from January 1, 2022

The first increase of the minimum wage comes on New Year's Eve.

By decision of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis, from January 1, 2022 the minimum wage is increased to 663 euros and the minimum wage for craftsmen is set at 29,62 euros.

The decision is signed following the agreement expressed by the cabinet last July after a relevant suggestion by the then competent minister Giannis Vroutsis.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, from January 1, 2022, the legal minimum wage and the legal minimum wage, for full employment, for employees and craftsmen throughout the country, is determined based on the current legislation as follows:

a) For employees the minimum wage is increased by 2% and is set at 663 euros from 650 euros previously.

b) For craftsmen the minimum wage is also increased by 2% and is set at 29,62 euros from 29,04 euros previously.

Regarding the process of additional increase of the legal minimum wage and the legal minimum wage in 2022, the ministry notes that "the recent statements of both Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakis are fully valid."
