Greece: The Turks are escalating the provocations-Barrage of airspace violations

Twenty Turkish aircraft, of which 6 carried weapons, entered the Athens FIR yesterday, across the Aegean Sea, without filing a flight plan.

In four cases, the process of intercepting them by corresponding Greek fighters developed into an engagement.

As it became known from the GEETHA, today they entered the Athens FIR without filing a flight plan, 6 pairs of Turkish F-16 aircraft, a quartet of Turkish F-16 and an individual Turkish F-16, two CN-235, and a UAV.

22 violations of air traffic rules were recorded in the Athens FIR, which developed into 103 violations of the national airspace of the Aegean islands (26 by fighters, 45 by UAV and 32 by CN-235) while six of the violations were overflights.

In all cases, the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted by corresponding Greek fighters, in accordance with international rules, according to standard practice.
