Past from today, Saturday, March 5, the use of the mask outdoors in Greece.
The "green light" was given last Wednesday at the regular meeting of the expert committee of the Ministry of Health of Greece, but with the recommendation that the mask be used where there is a crowd.
The improved picture of epidemiological indicators in recent weeks has led the committee experts to decide to relax this measure, which was done earlier than expected, as the original assumption was that it would be valid after the three days of Halloween.
Experts continue to advise people belonging to vulnerable groups, as well as those who have not been vaccinated, to continue to wear the mask outdoors, and if it is crowded, its use should be available to everyone, regardless of their health or vaccination status.
Strong recommendation for use in crowded places
"It should be clear and understood that as of today, the use of the mask for coronavirus outdoors is not completely abolished", stressed in APE - MPE the president of the Hellenic Pulmonologists Association, Stamatoula Tsikrika. Underlined the strong recommendation of the committee of experts for its preservation where it is found to be overcrowded and for its use by persons with risk factors for the occurrence of serious disease and for persons who have not been vaccinated against SARS Cov-2. The abolition of the obligation of the mask outdoors should not be translated that we are reaching the end of the pandemic, the virus is not gone, scientists say.
"The epidemiological indicators in our country do not yet allow the complete release from the masks even outdoors, while the dynamics of the virus is under constant close health monitoring," said Ms. Tsikrika.
