Greece: Students built an airplane that detects a forest fire

The goal of the two students is the early detection of forest fires to avoid the destruction of the natural environment

Students Nikos Efstratiou and Vangelis Iordanou built an airplane that performs predetermined flights and checks for the existence of a forest fire through an infrared camera and a Raspberry P microcomputer, and with this project they will take part in the 6th Panhellenic Vodafone Generation Next Competition.

If it detects a fire, it will send a message with its exact coordinates to the Fire Department of Mytilene.

The goal of the two students is the timely detection of forest fires to avoid the destruction of the natural environment, thus contributing to the fight against climate change.

At the end of the video, statements of the Fire Chief of the Fire Department of Mytilene Spyros Kleidaras are included, who expressed that the Project is very interesting and applicable for the early notification of fires.
