A resident of the area, who was an eyewitness to the accident, describes to protothema.gr the dramatic seconds during which the unfortunate woman lost her life.
"It was after 9. She was going to cross the street, to go to her house. She was swept away by the stream. She got stuck under the car and we couldn't save her. We all got out but... She must have hit because the way the stream swept her away, she couldn't have caught anywhere. With so many stones. Only her little feet were visible under the car. What can I say? 56 years old. She has a family, a girl," says the resident of Ano Glyfada.
According to another neighbor of the 56-year-old, the unfortunate woman "was walking down the street and went to cross over. There was so much water coming down, the water wasn't high, but it was very fast. It picked her up and threw her down. She probably hit her head and fainted. But then the water covered her. She definitely drowned."
He says that the 56-year-old "was upside down, under the car. As if she had taken a dive, her head was wedged underneath. Only her legs were hanging out, we couldn't get her out."
