The guilt of 11 of the 17 total defendants in the second trial for the sexual abuse of the 12-year-old girl from Colonos was decided today by the Mixed Jury Court of Athens after an express trial (the hearing started on November 6) due to end at the beginning of December of 18 months, i.e. the maximum pretrial detention limit of the accused.
In particular, judges and juries with today's decision found 11 of the accused in the case guilty of the felony of sexual acts with a minor for a fee.
In fact, one of them was also found guilty of pornography under the permissive change of charge to a misdemeanor.
Of the defendants who were convicted, 8 were found guilty unanimously and 3 by a majority.
On the contrary, the court unanimously acquitted three defendants and three more by a majority due to doubts.
The majority of those convicted are foreigners and the 12-year-old had identified them as her abusers in the statements she had given to the police authorities.
This particular trial, like the one that had preceded it last March with the main defendants Ilias Michos, the mother of the minor and the so-called "Mihalis", was held behind closed doors for reasons of protection of the minor victim.
The court's decision on the penalties is now awaited.
