The severe weather Byron is pounding Attica with heavy rains, storms and intense lightning activity, causing significant problems in areas such as Megara, Nea Peramos and Mandra.

Due to the heavy rainfall, roads have been flooded, while trees have fallen in several areas. At dawn, a 112 message was sent to the residents of Megara and Mandra to move from basements and ground floors of buildings to higher floors due to the development of flooding phenomena.

A 112 message was sent this morning to the residents of the municipality of Mandra Eidyllia to avoid traveling due to flooding. The Athens-Corinth national highway is closed from the Elefsina toll road to Corinth.

The Fire Department has received at least 230 calls for pumping water, cutting trees and transporting citizens to safe places, with crews on full operational readiness.

Among others, the following areas received a message from 112:

Attica until noon on Friday (5/12)

Evia until noon on Friday

Central Macedonia until Friday evening

Crete and Cyclades until noon on Friday

Magnesia, Larissa and Sporades until Friday evening

Pieria until the early hours of Saturday (6/12)

Chios, Samos, Ikaria and Dodecanese from Friday morning to Friday evening
