The unfortunate woman who lost her life in Patima Chalandriou was preparing to go on vacation when the fire that reached there, having started from Varnavas on Sunday, swept the craft where she was working, as a result of which she was trapped.

Speaking to protothema.gr, the owner of the craft shop confirms that the woman tried to find shelter in the building's bathroom, as her charred body was found there.

Describing the last communication he had with her, he says "she called me and told me "she's on fire". I told her "what are you doing over there" and then the line was cut."

Testimony from the craft industry that burned down in Patima Chalandriou

Speaking to protothema.gr about what happened on Monday afternoon, he said that "everything stopped from Anapauses onwards. The police wouldn't let you through. It was a mess here, even the police. I told them that I want to pass and they told me that it is forbidden, because it is a mess. When I arrived at 19:30 by coincidence, the mayor of Chalandrio was also here and I said to him "mayor, pour some water in the shop because it is still burning". It was still burning inside. He did send a municipal tanker, he shuts it down and I leave. The workers had left before the fire started. This woman wanted to leave tonight and come Monday for work. And so that she doesn't lose her daily wages, I tell her come work in the afternoon and leave and come back on Monday."

As he said about Nadia, "she lived in Greece for 25 years and spoke Greek fluently. She called me and says "it's on fire" and I say "what are you doing over there". Since then the line has been disconnected, I don't know what happened. Communication is lost and I say he will leave, where can I imagine that everything will turn to ashes. Then the phone rings that Nadia didn't go home. Then fleas start entering my ears that something is wrong. We called the police and found her in the bathroom."
