No positive reaction from 3-year-old Angelos, who is hospitalized in the Pediatric Clinic of the intensive care unit of the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete, emphasizes in his statements the deputy director of the hospital, referring to the toddler who was abused by his parents and is fighting to stay alive.
While doctors are fighting to save the child, the forensic report that has been made public is chilling, as it captures the horrific moments the toddler has been experiencing in recent months.
According to statements by the Deputy Governor of PAGNI Hospital, Stelios Kteniadakis, to ANT1 regarding the health condition of the 3-year-old boy who was brutally abused by his mother and her partner, he said:
"The child remains intubated for the fourth day in a severe clinical picture without any change in his neurological condition. His intracranial pressure is increased."
Some assessment of whether the damage will be irreparable or not can only be made when the patient wakes up, as he mentioned. So far, there is a very serious head injury.
"So far we don't have any positive reaction that we can be optimistic about," he added.
"The child is not brain dead," he stressed, adding that "such an image is a shocking image."
He also said that "he also has injuries in other places that are not visible."
What is stated in the report?
The forensic report on the injuries sustained by 3-year-old Angelos, who was systematically abused in Therisou's home in Heraklion, is shocking.
According to the latest information from Cretapost, the unfortunate little boy was experiencing moments of torment, as the forensic doctor reveals that his injuries were several days old, however the irreversible injury - the one to the brain - occurred recently.
The interior of the Heraklion courthouse was packed with people, where the couple who abused the 3-year-old apologized yesterday.
From what the forensic doctor reportedly found, the child has suffered irreversible brain damage, while as stated in the literature, there is almost no chance of survival.
The child's body has bruises and scratches, burns (most likely from a cigarette) on his hands, feet, face and genital area.
He also had internal injuries, such as a bruised liver, an abdominal injury, and suffered serious brain damage as a result of the torture he suffered.
The head injuries appear to have occurred on the day of the injury. However, the marks found all over the child's body indicate prolonged and brutal abuse.
"The examination of the upper extremities (which could not be complete) reveals bruises of various ages (small and large), (located mainly on the outer surface of both arms and forearms).
Also observed, among other things: a circular older lesion - eschar on the palpebral surface, possibly a cigarette) as well as a subungual hematoma of the big toe of the right hand, a more recent abrasion of the dorsal surface of the left hand and also a more recent abrasion of the dorsal surface of the ring finger of the left hand, etc.," is described, among other things, in the forensic report.
The couple is in custody.
The 26-year-old mother and her 44-year-old partner, accused of the horrific abuse of their 3-year-old child in their home in Therisso, Heraklion, headed for prison yesterday.
According to information from Cretapost, after their confession, both were deemed to be remanded in custody with the agreement of the investigator and prosecutor.
The 44-year-old allegedly claimed that he had absolutely nothing to do with the child abuse and that his only responsibility is that he did not report the 26-year-old for her abusive behavior.
He even said that he had recorded the child's injuries with his cell phone in order to report him, but as he said, "I was timid, indecisive and stupid," while also stating that he was afraid of her.
For her part, the 26-year-old mother appeared before the interrogator with apathy and lack of interest.
The 26-year-old's apology lasted about three hours and she showed no sign of interest, not even when she was told about the child's health condition.
The 26-year-old apologetic woman allegedly placed all the blame on the 44-year-old, claiming that in the three months she had been living with him, he had systematically abused the child while he had taken her cell phone and she could not talk to her family to ask for help.
He also claimed that he has no money at all during this time and that was one of the reasons he wasn't leaving.
On Sunday morning, when the child was found in a bad state, the 26-year-old reportedly said that she was away to get coffee and the child was in a good mood. When she returned, she saw him in this miserable condition.
