The guilt of Antoniou's father for five acts related to the physical abuse of minors of food from the Ark of the World, was decided today after a long hearing by the Three-member Criminal Court of Athens. The decision regarding the guilt of the once powerful man of the NGO was unanimous and with it even four of the eight defendants in the case (along with the priest) were convicted. The sentencing decision was heard by Father Antonios, who is also present today in the audience of the court, as well as the elder Stamatia Georgantis.
At this time, the lawyers of the condemned are asking the court for mitigation.
The prosecutor's proposal
It is recalled that in a previous hearing, the prosecutor of the seat had requested the guilt of father Antonio for five separate acts of the indictment, which concern physical abuse of children (misdemeanors) in structures of the Ark of the World. Furthermore, the public prosecutor had suggested that five more defendants in the case, former employees of NGO structures, be declared guilty of misdemeanors. On the contrary, he suggested acquitting two of the accused.
The specific trial that has been ongoing for months concerns accusations of physical and psychological abuse of children in various structures of the Ark of the World when it was led by Father Antonios.
