The death of the 33-year-old was instantaneous, while the teenager, under the weight of his remorse, turned his gun on himself, wanting to end his life.

He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the same Hospital and despite the seriousness of his condition, the treating doctors express restrained optimism about the course of his health.

The chronicle of the tragedy

It all started when the team of eight hunters, who are all related to them, split up to cover a larger area.

The 33-year-old man took his 16-year-old nephew with them and they went to the small dam of Arta.

There, the 16-year-old got confused and accidentally shot his uncle with ammunition for a wild boar.

"I killed him"

The frightened father of the child ran to see what had happened. He saw his brother dead, he heard his child say "I killed him".

The teenager did not give himself time to mourn after the fatal mistake. He saw his beloved uncle mortally wounded and froze with remorse. Seconds before the icy faces and the rest of the group could grasp the extent of the tragedy, he turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place.

The Police and EKAB were immediately notified that they received the 16-year-old and rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.
