The 32-year-old mother who allegedly abused her minor children in Larissa was given a deadline to apologize on Wednesday.
According to larissanet, the 32-year-old is accused of the offense of domestic bodily harm with the aggravating circumstance of paragraph 4 of article 6 of the Domestic Violence Law, which carries a prison sentence of at least ten years, and of the offense of exposure to danger.
The abuse of the minors, aged 5 and 6, was discovered when they were taken to hospital as one of them was experiencing a health problem. During the examination, doctors found that the 6-year-old boy had injuries from cigarette burns. Examining the other boy, they found the same signs.
According to a report by the Star's main news bulletin, after the injuries were revealed, the mother allegedly sent an audio message to a friend. "M... we shouldn't have come because they saw the wounds here on the children and I'm afraid they'll complain to me and call the police and we shouldn't have brought the children like that. I'm afraid of things like that, I don't trust anyone."
The mother, however, denies the accusations, pointing to another person. "I haven't harmed my children, I don't smoke, someone else has."
The police are looking into three more people: her current partner, her ex-husband, and her stepfather, who lives in Cyprus.
Neighbors report that all of these men visited the mother's house frequently, while the children themselves appear to have made insinuations to acquaintances about abusive behavior, especially from their stepfather.
