The judicial and police authorities have been trying to unravel the tangle of the abuse case of the two children from Larissa since last Saturday. The mother of the five-year-old boy and the six-year-old girl was in the frame of the prosecution from the very beginning. The 32-year-old will go before the investigating judge today and will have to explain how her two children were found with cigarette burn marks almost all over their bodies. She will also have to reveal who drew shapes on the boy's buttocks with a marker and painted the child's fingers in the same way.
When the 32-year-old was arrested and testified to the police, she said that she did not cause the marks herself, without mentioning who burned her children with a lit cigarette.
Who abused the children?
The biological father of the children is also being charged in the same case after the 32-year-old filed a lawsuit against him for abuse. Also, since yesterday, there is an arrest warrant for a 50-year-old man from Larissa who is allegedly related to the 32-year-old.
The warrant was activated by the judicial authorities after the two children were examined by a child psychiatrist who spoke with them and reported that incriminating evidence emerged from what the two minors told her.
The police, according to information, searched for the 50-year-old both at his home and at his place of work, but were unable to locate him.
How the horrors the children experienced were revealed
Last Saturday, the 32-year-old took her 6-year-old to Larissa General Hospital as she was experiencing respiratory problems. There, the hospital's pediatricians who examined both children found burns from a lit cigarette almost all over their bodies.
When they questioned the 32-year-old, she allegedly told them that the children had rashes and she could not afford to take them to the doctor, an excuse she also presented to those who saw the children have these marks on their bodies.
The forensic doctor who examined the children confirmed that of the burns she found all over both of their bodies, some were previous and some were recent, indicating ongoing abuse.
The two children continue to be hosted at the Pediatric Clinic of Larissa Hospital and are receiving the care of the staff and doctors. It is characteristic that they are trying to "build" bridges of communication as the two siblings find it difficult to trust anyone to speak openly about what they have experienced.
