The battle with the flames in Evros is raging for the 12th day with the fire brigade today focusing on Lefkimmi, Leptokaria, Treis Vryses, Kotronia and Kirki, where there are flare-ups.
At the same time, in the Rodopi fire, there are flare-ups in the Kassitera area. Shortly after 18:00 on Tuesday, an evacuation order was given to residents in the Kotronia area, calling them to move to Giannouli due to a forest fire in their area.
It is recalled that yesterday, in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister at Megaros Maximos, it was decided to immediately declare the fire-damaged areas in Evros and Parnitha as recoverable. At the same time, the work on anti-corrosion and anti-flooding works, as well as the cleaning of the streams, will begin immediately, under the responsibility of the Regions. Also, animal feed and water are placed in the affected areas, for the wild fauna, while the fire fighting means are strengthened, with an emphasis on the aerial forces.
