Athens Marathon: Stelios Prassas became the oldest athlete to finish

Stelios Prassas managed it. The oldest athlete, 90 years old, managed to finish in the Athens Marathon offering strength and endurance lessons to all.

Mr. Prassas cut the thread together with his grandchildren who are there in every fight to support him.

A few words about Stelios Prassas

The 90-year-old Mr. Stelios is the oldest marathon runner as he was born in 1931.

He is an athlete of Telmissos Nea Makri and holds 8 national records. He is the tireless runner that we have been admiring for many years at the finish of marathons.

It's him oldest among 30.000 athletes participants in this year's Marathon. In fact, it has been awarded by SEGAS as the oldest active marathon runner who participates in the Athens Classic Marathon.

"When I go to the stadium to train I feel great love, my heart fills. I feel so happy to be in the stadium. "I see small children, from 5 years old, to big people coming back in there and that fills me, my joy is indescribable," he says.

Veteran football player Mr. Stelios, owner of shops in Vyronas, family man, has lived an interesting life but his great love is running. He realized his passion for running when a neighbor of his runner suggested he quit football and run with him.

The most moving moment when I finish the marathon

The rare marathon runner has traveled hundreds of thousands of meters, but all over the world the Panathinaiko Stadium does not compare to any other.

"The most moving moment is always every time I finish the marathon. It is an indescribable moment! I go crazy when I enter the stadium above all in Greece at the Kallimarmaro stadium. It is a temple, all athletes must worship. There are no stages with such marbles in the world.

So this year too, Stelios Prassas achieved his goal and moved us.
