"Our main priority is to increase the salaries of the Greek citizens as long as they trust us again" underlined the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in an interview he granted to the American television network CNN and the journalist Christian Amanpour.
The prime minister stated that he was satisfied with the performance of the Greek economy, that is, that the domestic growth is "running" at a faster rate compared to the corresponding European one and repeated that in the event that a strong independent government of the New Democracy is formed, the country will regain the investment grade.
When asked about his priorities for the second 4-year term, if of course he is re-elected, Mr. Mitsotakis insisted that he has great ambitions for the next government term, stressing that the transformation of Greece requires at least two 4-year terms. "High growth rates, more investment and of course more jobs are big priorities for us. We are also promoting a progressive agenda regarding the reform of the National Health System, the modernization and digitization of the State, as well as the reduction of social inequalities," noted Mr. Mitsotakis, who recalled that in the previous 4 years, direct economic support to those who needed it most.
In addition, the prime minister underlined that the New Democracy won a second consecutive victory over the "popular opposition", characterizing this victory as an encouraging message for Europe as a whole.
When asked about Greek-Turkish relations, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, repeated that he is not naive, and that the foreign policy of the states does not change from one day to the next. Mr. Mitsotakis wished, however, to maintain the positive momentum that has formed after the deadly earthquake in Turkey, he insisted that Greece and Turkey can resolve the one and only difference, namely the delimitation of the EEZ on the basis of International Law, noting with the meaning that the doctrine of the "blue homeland" is extremely revisionist and that it threatens our national sovereign rights.
In a question about audio-visual material, presented a few days ago by the New York Times regarding an incident of repatriation of immigrants, Mr. Mitsotakis replied that the said incident is being investigated, he spoke of an unacceptable practice, he recalled, however, that Greece applies a strict, except but fair migration policy and protection of the Greek and by extension European borders pointing out that the Greek authorities have saved thousands of human lives in the Aegean.
