Mitsotakis: Sorry again, we are all to blame and first of all we as the government

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis asked for an apology once again to the citizens for the train collision in Tempi in his presentation to the cabinet today, Thursday.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis made it clear, in fact, that he is not interested in a sterile political anti-paralysis using the phrase "we are all to blame, and first of all we as the government".

He also announced that there will be announcements in the coming days about compensation and support for the families of the victims and the injured of the tragedy in Tempe. He also emphasized that "I will move heaven and earth" to complete the remote control project, adding that "this will happen by the end of the summer.

In this context, he called on the government ministers to overthrow the "problematic state" despite the reactions that will occur, telling him that "never again" for the tragedy of Tempe should be turned into "now or never" and giving the slogan that the changes should be made "now".

"Our meeting today is being held in the shadow of the Tempe tragedy and the ongoing national pain. I will repeat the public apology in the name of all those who governed as well as personally. I take personal responsibility, we must not hide behind a series of human errors," said Mr. Mitsotakis, starting his presentation.

As he said, "if the remote control project had been completed, this accident would practically have been impossible to happen. The fact that this digital control system will be operational a few months from now is no excuse. It also makes my personal pain greater because we didn't get to install it before the damage happened."

"The last thing I'm interested in is getting into a sterile confrontation about who's to blame. We are all guilty, let's admit it with courage" added the prime minister, also pointing out the role of the guilds that prevented the evaluation. However, as he noted, "the division of responsibilities will be done by justice quickly and to the highest degree".
