The choice not to overshadow the swearing-in of Konstantinos Tasoulas by the announcement of the changes in the government seems to have significantly contributed to the delay in the reshuffle, which information converges on being announced today. The name of Kyriakos Pierrakakis seems to be gaining ground over Theodoros Skylakakis for the Ministry of Finance, in place of Kostis Hatzidakis. Such a move will bring about a domino effect of changes, as the most likely replacement for Mr. Pierrakakis is Sofia Zacharaki, for whose position it is estimated that Irini Agapidaki will be preferred. This will open a position in the Ministry of Health, where a newly introduced MP could be placed in the government.
According to information, in addition to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministries of Shipping and Infrastructure have turned into a difficult puzzle. The latter was rather expected, given its connection to the Tempi accident. Although the Transport sector seems to have been closed with Konstantinos Kyranakis at the head. In Shipping, information indicates that there was an executive who expressed a keen interest in the position, but in general there was rather reluctance from the other two executives who were soundly surveyed.
Estimates insist that Makis Voridis is headed to the Ministry of Energy. It is believed that Christos Staikouras, Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Christos Stylianides, who has requested it, will be removed from the government. Stavros Papastavrou, Kostas Skrekas, Thanos Plevris are expected to return to the government, respectively. Vassilis Kikilias has requested to be transferred from the Ministry of Civil Protection, so these names are "in play" for the four ministries that will be left without a head (Infrastructure, Migration Policy, Shipping and Civil Protection). Of course, the possibility of surprises from the clashes that almost always arise in reshuffles can never be ruled out.
The aim, however, is to produce a functional government structure with the changes that will be made, as it is very likely that this government will last the country until the next national elections. We are halfway through the second four-year term and the time for the 2027 election is counting down. It is taken for granted that this factor also weighs heavily in the finalization of decisions.
And while no spectacular changes are expected in the government in terms of the entry of new people, at the level of deputy ministers the picture is very different, as it is expected that many changes will be made to satisfy the parliamentary group, while there is always the criterion of geographical representation of as many regions of the country as possible, at least at the level of deputy minister. Given these data, it is expected that several of the deputy ministers will be replaced. As for the names that sound like possible candidates for deputy minister positions, Makarios Lazaridis, Kostas Vlassis, Christos Boukoros, Anna Efthymiou, Kostas Katsafados, Evripides Stylianides are considered as possible candidates.
