The General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the ADEDY declared a 24-hour General Strike today, April 9, in which Federations, unions and associations of the private and public sectors participate, demanding, among other things, wage increases, Collective Labor Agreements, the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries in the Public Sector and measures to address punctuality and the housing crisis.
Calling for mass participation in the strike, the GSEE has scheduled its central rally for the morning of Wednesday, April 9, at 11:00, at Klafthmonos Square in Athens, the ADEDY strike rally will take place at Syntagma, outside the Ministry of Finance, at 10:30 a.m. and the PAME strike rally will take place at Propylaia, at 10:30 and at the same time in Thessaloniki, at the Venizelos Statue, while, at the same time, it is calling for participation in the other strike rallies in all cities.
In particular, the GSEE calls on all workers, the unemployed, pensioners, young men and women in the country to participate en masse in the 24-hour General Strike of April 9, as well as in protest rallies in the country's major cities.
The Confederation demands that the minimum wage be determined not by government decisions, but by free collective bargaining. It also demands Collective Labor Agreements and energy policies to combat austerity and the housing crisis.
ADEDY's main demands are that measures be taken against accuracy and to address the housing crisis, that real salary increases be made immediately in the Public Sector and that the government legislate the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries in the Public Sector.
For its part, the Athens Labor Center decided to participate in the 24-hour General Strike of the GSEE on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
As he announced, the main demands are the following:
"Minimum wage and daily wage from the National General Collective Labor Agreement with free collective bargaining."
Automatic expansion of Sectoral Collective Labor Agreements, so that they universally cover employees in the sector.
Reinstatement of the principle of the most favorable Collective Labor Agreement and the retroactive effect on the pre-memorandum arrangement.
Affordable housing for all and permanent and effective protection of primary residence.
Free trade union action.
Health and safety measures, as well as recording and publishing data on occupational accidents and occupational diseases.
Measures to address sexual harassment and violence at work.
"A fair tax system and relief for employees and pensioners."
