Mary Chronopoulou, who is still intubated in the intensive care unit, is fighting to keep herself alive, showing no signs of improvement.
According to a new report from the newspaper Espresso, the actress has a wound on the right frontal part of her skull and is in a comatose state.
"In such situations, anti-edema therapy is administered to absorb the swelling and hematoma that has spread to a large part of her brain, according to the CT scan the actress underwent when she was taken to the emergency room last Sunday," writes the article.
It is reported that "the doctors are only hoping for a miracle", but also that "Mary Chronopoulou is fighting hard, since her vital functions are excellent and there is no complication in her breathing or heart".
The accident that sent her to the intensive care unit
The great protagonist of the Greek cinema "slipped down the stairs of the living room of her house in Peania, hitting her head seriously and remaining unconscious on the floor for hours" as reported by another Espresso publication.
There was no one at home, as her assistant was away on business.
The same information states that Mary Chronopoulou seriously hit her head, on the edge of the table, and fainted. She remained in this state for hours, until her assistant found her. The woman entered the house and the first thing she saw was the actress on the floor. Immediately, she called people in her inner circle for help.
The fall caused internal bleeding and Mary Chronopoulou was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of Evangelismos Hospital.
He was diagnosed with a severe brain injury due to a fall and was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit, where he remains until now.
Makis Delaportas made the news known on Monday, October 2 with a post on his Facebook account.
The personal friend of Mary Chronopoulou, the journalist Antonis Boskoitis, spoke by phone on the "Studio 4" show, where he talked about the accident of the actress and claimed that her health condition is considered serious.
He stated in detail: "I am in Thessaloniki. It was a bolt from the blue, literally. I saw the post made by Haris Papadopoulos, the president of the Society of Greek Directors, and we even contacted mutual friends with Mary Chronopoulou and Haris Papadopoulos. Unfortunately, Mary had a serious fall last night at home and is currently in intensive care. We are not allowed to refer to a man who is currently fighting to stay alive, to do obituaries. You understand now, it's a very difficult time. Let's just hope that the woman can recover."
He added: "Mary is a very strong person, she has proven it. She has had quite a few adventures with her health. He was also preparing to do things on the theater board. Let's hope he can pull through and get over it. We are all shocked, all the people who are close to her, we are praying where we believe for Mary Chronopoulou to get well".
Later, Antonis Moskoitis made a post on his Facebook account where he stated about the actress's health adventure and his appearance on the show.
In particular, he wrote: "I appeared on Thanasis and Nancy's show. I was invited to speak about Mary Chronopoulou from Thessaloniki where I am. What I said is that we should not start obituaries for a man who is still fighting the battle of his life. As much as I cried with the news - and so did Mimi Denisi, who we just spoke to - I want to believe that Mary will make it one more time."
He added: "A fall inside her house from one or two stairs led her to the intensive care unit with a serious brain hematoma. Let us pray for Mary, wherever one believes. That alone and nothing else."
