A 6 magnitude earthquake, classified as "very strong", occurred in the early hours of Tuesday to Wednesday, at 01:51 am, in the sea area 19 kilometers south-southwest of Kasos, or in other words east of Crete, at a focal depth of 35 kilometers, according to data from the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
The German Geosciences Research Center (GFZ) estimated for its part that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6,3 and that its focal depth was around 83 kilometers.
According to the correspondents of the Athens News Agency in Rhodes and Crete, the earthquake was felt throughout the Dodecanese and in eastern Crete. According to the initial information from the fire brigade in Crete, there have been no calls nor have any material damages been reported at this stage. Patrols are being carried out as a precaution to assess the situation.
