In a climate of deep emotion, Chania welcomed the body of Mikis Theodorakis. The body of the great composer arrived by ferry from Piraeus to his place of origin, on Thursday morning.
The body of Mikis Theodorakis arrived at the port of Souda and with an intermediate stop in the square of the municipal market of the city will be transferred to the Metropolitan Church of the Entrances of the Virgin for a popular pilgrimage.
At 13:00 he will be transferred to his village, Galatas and to the church of Agios Nikolaos where the exit procession will be performed in a close circle and with strict observance of the protocol for public health.
The procession will take place in the presence of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the leader of the official opposition, Alexis Tsipras.
