The political debate over the Tempi train accident is being transferred to the Greek Parliament, as today the PASOK proposal to establish a parliamentary pre-investigation committee for possible offenses by the then Deputy Minister to Prime Minister Christos Triantopoulos will be discussed.
At the same time, a pre-order debate at the level of leaders, requested by the KKE and SYRIZA-PS, “on the Tempi crime” is scheduled for tomorrow. There, the President of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis, has already announced that his party will submit a motion of no confidence against the Government, also on the occasion of the recently published findings of the National Organization for the Investigation of Air and Railway Accidents and Transport Safety (EODASAAM). Mr. Androulakis called on all opposition parties to support the motion of no confidence.
It is noted that the Greek Government has stated that it will support the establishment of the pre-investigation committee, reiterating its commitment to clarifying the case with transparency. However, government sources emphasize that the PASOK indictment is based on weak arguments, without specific evidence or testimony to prove Mr. Triantopoulos' involvement. Furthermore, they point out that the EODOSAAM report states that there was no state intervention to alter the accident site.
