The local community of Arta is shocked after the unjust loss of the 33-year-old during the hunt.
According to the local website epiruspost.gr, no one could hold back his tears at the funeral, while even the priest bent down and failed to complete the ceremony.
The 33-year-old was tragically killed by his 16-year-old nephew, who thought he was prey, and shot, killing his uncle.
Then, when he realized what had happened, he shot himself with a shotgun in an attempt to end his life.
His state of health remains critical but stable. According to what Christodoulos Nathanael, the coordinating director of the Arta ICU, said on Tuesday morning on the show "Mega Ora Mega", "Giannakis is relatively well".
"His state of health is stable after the surgery and the first 24 hours that were important have passed. After 24 hours I believe that we will be able to enter the process of waking him up, he is still in repression, in mechanical support. The injuries caused damage to his left lung, at least half of it was removed but the child's oxygenation is good. For a couple of millimeters the bullets did not touch his heart. No other organs have been disturbed, "Mr. Nathaniel explained.
The young man underwent surgery at the Arta hospital as he suffered serious injuries to his chest and neck and the next few hours are considered critical.
At the hospital and his parents
A few hours after his brother's funeral, the 16-year-old's father suffered a heart attack and was taken to the Arta hospital, where the minor is.
According to Greek media, the mother of the 16-year-old, who is pregnant with her third child and is trying to overcome the shock of the last days, is being treated in another ward.
