Thessaloniki: A Cypriot wanted for attempted murder and criminal organization was arrested

A 36-year-old Cypriot was arrested in Thessaloniki, who is wanted by the Nicosia authorities for participation in attempted murder and criminal organization.

In execution of a European warrant issued by the Cypriot authorities, ELAS announced that he was located and arrested yesterday afternoon by a special team created by police officers of the Search for Persons Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, with the assistance of personnel from the Extortion Prosecution Department and Crimes against Life and Personal Freedom of the same Directorate, but also police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Human Trafficking in Thessaloniki.

According to Cyprus prosecution documents, the 36-year-old wanted man is being prosecuted for the offenses of participation in attempted murder, damage to foreign property using explosives, illegal possession of explosives and membership in a criminal organization.

The arrested person is taken to the Appeals Prosecutor's Office of Thessaloniki to start the procedures related to his extradition.
