The 65-year-old, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Papageorgiou Hospital, gave a precious gift of life, sight, to a female of his age, who was suffering from serious vision problems, upon his death.

The 65-year-old woman successfully underwent a corneal transplant yesterday, with a graft from the deceased 65-year-old, by the corneal transplant team of the 65nd University Ophthalmology Clinic of the Papageorgiou Hospital. Thanks to the act of utmost importance and humanity on the part of the donor's family, the XNUMX-year-old recipient, who lives in a city in northern Greece and suffered for a long time, is already optimistic that her daily life will improve.

The doctors urge the citizens to support the transplant activity, underlining that the spread of transplants depends mainly on the awareness and participation of the society as a whole.
