A monk was arrested on Mount Athos for beating another monk. The incident happened, yesterday afternoon, at the Holy Monastery of Hilandari. A 35-year-old man from Romania was arrested as the perpetrator, while the victim (53 years old, from Belarus) is being treated with head injuries at Polygyros Hospital.
The arrested monk was prosecuted for serious bodily harm and referred to be tried at the Autonomous Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki.
During preliminary investigation, he allegedly claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
