Turkey: Greek police officer and his girlfriend released

The Greek police officer from Alexandroupolis, Manolis Valasoudis, and his girlfriend, who had been arrested on the pretext that they had entered a military-restricted area in Turkey and were taking photos, were released.

However, the court in Edirne, where they were transferred to stand trial, ordered their release as they were not found guilty. In their testimony they said that they went to Edirne for shopping and that they would return from the border gate of Ypsala.

However, their navigator took them through the village of Doirani and so they found themselves where they were arrested. The couple will return to Greece.
