The due will be cut from the state sponsorship
The Ministry of Interior, responding to the question of Mr. Perdikis regarding the planning for the collection of the due fees by the local authorities, notes that at least from the Ministry of Interior, and given the authorization received by the Minister of Interior from the Council of Ministers proceeds to cuts from the state sponsorship granted to them, and will proceed with offsetting the debts with the sponsorship, based on the Law on Accounting and Financial Management of 2014.
Overdue debts of € 18,7 million were repaid by the state
It should be reminded that the Council of Ministers on November 8, 2017 decided to repay through the state budget, the debts of Community Councils accumulated until September 1, 2017, to the Department of Water Development, proceeding to repay the overdue debts of approximately € 18,7 million. had previously secured the written commitment of all 80 beneficiary Community Councils that they would pay their current liabilities to the WDD immediately.
However, as Mr. Perdikis notes in his question to the competent Minister, despite the commitment they signed, 38 of them continued not to pay the current invoices, while the undeclared interest and interest rates remained pending. It should be noted that it refers to the response of the then Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Petridis, 59 Community Councils, presented in November 2018 overdue debts amounting to € 4,5 euros.
Today, the current debts of 43 Community Councils amount, as mentioned above, to € 7.439.087,14.
It should be noted that as clarified by the Ministry of Interior, out of the amount of approximately € 18,8 million approved by the Ministry in 2017 in order to repay the overdue debts of the Community Councils, approximately € 2,4 million were used by the WDD for repayment of most of the interest (unless the request of the then Minister of Agriculture for cancellation of interest had not been approved by the Technical Committee for Deletions), and the rest to cover again most of the overdue debts.
