Supermarkets will remain open on Saturday, January 17, the day of the funeral of former President of the Republic, George Vassiliou, the Executive Secretary of the Pancyprian Supermarkets Association, Andreas Hadjiadamou, told CNA.
Although the day has been designated by the Council of Ministers as a public holiday, "the private sector will work normally, as will supermarkets," he said.
"There is no differentiation," he added, "employees will work normally, as they work on Saturday," he noted, and the legislation applicable to work on Saturday and Sunday will be applied.
