The Director of the Consumer Protection Service, Konstantinos Karagiorgis, spoke to CNA on Wednesday about the possibility of moderate reductions in fuel prices in the coming days, mainly in unleaded 95.
Responding to a question from the Cyprus News Agency regarding the level of fuel prices, Mr. Karagiorgis stated that "the Service's standard policy is not to make estimates and forecasts regarding the level of fuel prices, as this is a particularly complex sector that is greatly influenced by uncertain external and geopolitical factors."
Nevertheless, he added, "taking into account the course of international Platts fuel prices, as well as recent geopolitical developments and the increases recorded in both European countries and Cyprus, there is a possibility that there will be moderate reductions in fuel prices in the coming days, mainly in unleaded 95."
When asked exactly when these reductions are expected to occur, he replied, "possibly even today or tomorrow."
Mr. Karagiorgis emphasized that the Service "monitors developments on a daily basis, with the main goal of ensuring consumer protection."
At the same time, he once again called on consumers to choose gas stations with lower prices, emphasizing that significant price fluctuations are observed between gas stations.
